The route of the Roman road in this area has always been a mystery as the A49 wanders away from the alignment some distance to the west. A straight line connection between the probable location at Row High Wood and the A49 going through Euxton, would cross Delph Lane. This lane, which goes up past Lower House Farm and Delf Quarry has been suggested as the Roman road but it seems to narrow and in some places become a hollow way. An alignment of field boundaries to the west of it could also be a possibility. Drone photos taken during the warm sunny spell in February, unfortunately didn’t reveal anything particular. Looking North Looking South

Maybe we have to wait till the next period of drought when parch marks might possibly reveal more features, before this mystery is solved.
